Starter is the free plan of the Chemical Register. It gives one site and two users a working stock register, linked to our chemical database, with up to 150 line items. There is no card to enter and no time limit. It suits a small store, a single department testing the idea or a technician who wants to see whether it matches how they work before anybody discusses a budget.
What you get
The register. One row per container, with location, quantity, dates and status, and a history behind each row. See the chemical stock register for what that looks like.
The chemical database. Add a chemical by searching for it, and its pictograms, hazard statements and storage class come with it. Anything we do not list can go in as free text.
Requesting a collection. Select the rows you want to remove and send a disposal request to Box 4. We arrange collection through registered hazardous waste carriers and handle the quote, paperwork and invoice. The usual minimum order value applies.
What it does not include
Starter has no exports. Stock check mode, the reporting set, alerts, labels and the AI assistant start on the School plan. If you need these, or more than 150 line items, see pricing. A paid plan is invoiced and paid by BACS.
Setting up
In set-up, you say what type of organisation you are, name your site and create a first location. Then you can start with an empty register, invite one colleague and pick your plan, which stays as Starter unless you choose otherwise.
A good way to judge the register is to set up one cabinet, not the whole store. Choose somewhere you know well, add what is in it and see whether the screen matches what you find when you open the door. Your hazard data will be there from the first row.
Who it suits
A small independent school with a modest prep room may stay on Starter for a long time. A dental practice or small clinic with a short list of chemicals may fit inside it too. Secondary school science departments with more than 150 containers can use Starter to try the register before moving to the School plan.
